Post The Real Chris Osgood???
So now that wings cup victory has worn off and the media's honeymoon with him is over let's talk about the real Chris Osgood shall we

3.25GAA
and an .883 SV %

now he does have is 15-3 record this year,
but let's be real shall we, almost any other team in the league
without the league's highest scoring offence 170 goals on the year

he would probably be 5-13 and on his way to the farm club
Ozzie has been and always will be an mediocre/good goalie at best.

Ozzie has beneffited greatly from the offensive and defensive machine that is the wings anywhere else he would have been out of hockey years ago.

and regardless of his wins total, this year in particular is starting to prove the obvious that Ozzie is not a Hall of Fame goalie and more or less is the Trent Dilfer of Hockey, Mediocre goalie on a great team.

I know Mickey Redmond and the Detroit media still love and protect him
but if you watch TSN or Canadian sources on hockey they all seem to bolster my point that Ozzie is just along for the ride and not a Great goalie by any stretch.

that's my .02 please discuss

Not having career numbers, but 15 - 3 says it all. The W is what is important. The Wings look like the Oilers of the 80's, with many high scoring games and not playing tight D like they were playing just a few short years ago.

Anyone think Grant Fuhr was good? His regular season GAA over 19 years was 3.38 and in the playoffs it was 2.92. Not what you would say stellar numbers, but the man won a few cups in his day. Along with that his regular season record was 403-295-114.

source on Fuhr stats: http://www.geocities.com/grantfuhrcentral/

So IMO, Osgood is just fine and a HOF goalie.

So how are you feeling about Chris Osgood this morning?

IMO he is doing what he does best. He is a playoff goalie and a very good one at that. This is the Osgood that everyone wanted to see during the regular season. He had a good regular season, but now he has ramped up his game and is playing awesome playoff hockey again this year.

Osgood, or as we like to call him Oh-so-good, will anchor the WIngs 12th Cup win.

"Oh-so-good, will anchor the WIngs 12th Cup win"
so how did that work out for him???
that's right he lost 4 out of his last 5 games???

you know it's funny I have been saying for years
that Ozzie only looks great when everything around him goes well......
like last years playoffs, when he had almost no shots on goal against him
and an offence that scored 5-6 goals a game

Ozzie never could do the heavy lifting
he's good at times, not great
and not a true HHOF candidate.

goalies in thier prime like Roy,Hasek,Brodeur,Belfour
they steal games in the playoffs
games they have no business winning they do.

this was his chance
under fire, left to be the hero or the zero
just steal one game out of four and it's yours!!!

All he had to do was win 1 game in Pittsburgh and it's over
the doubters would have to be silenced
.....he had 3 chances!!!
oops sorry!!!

OK, well win 1 game at home in your buiding
with all the fans behind you 20,000 people chanting your name here it is prove me wrong show me you can come up big.

When those guys in front of you for so long making you look good
making your job easier, for once ask you to be great, to be the all-star goalie that you think that you are, stand tall be the star, Steal this one game........

Ooops sorry, I can't I am just an average to good goalie
and no matter how good my stats look on paper spending a carrer behind Nikolas Lindstrom and the greatest team in hockey the last 16 years

I am still the goalie that lets in slapshot from center ice,
I am still the goalie that lost every series to the Avalanche when they were a real rival "Vernon and Hasek were the goalies in net when the wings beat them look it up the only series Ozzie every took from the Av's was last year now that they are old and pathetic"

I am the goalie who just needed 1 win on the road in the finals and could not, Ooops sorry

I am the goalie who just needed one last win at home to get the wings the 12th cup...... and Ooops sorry.

Better like next year "Os not so good"
if your back???
the wings will be back, but maybe not with you???

WOW!!!! Way too much verbiage. What a rant...lol

If you feel it was Osgood's fault they lost, IU think you need to go study the game of Ice Hockey.

No they did not win. They lost a one goal game, in game seven. 28 other teams wish they would have had the chance. Who would have been a better goalie??

One of those high priced guys who were eliminated in the 1st round? 2nd round? Conference finals?

One can not win it all every year, but I'll take Ozzie and his 3 cups over Luongo, Mason (either one), Thomas and Price and all of their hype.

Have a nice day!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Your math is flawed
of those three cups teams Ozzie was on

he was picking the splinters out of his ass watching Vernon beat the Av's
because Ozzie couldn't????? he never beat the Av's during that tough rivalary!

as for the other 2cups the teams they played and the team that played in front of him, any OHL goalie could have done the same job

each time Ozzie truly gets tested??? he fails.....
No HHOF for him....

PS..... I Had a Great Day
